What an Event!

So here it goes....
Miss Kaylen had tickets to the M0-tab Christmas concert w/DAVID ARCHULETA :D
What? I have never been to the Christmas concert before, and the great friend she is I got to pick a date and go along, fun right???
I have never had such a struggle in my LIFE to find a stupid date....rrrr! (i'm really over it BTW)
I thought, I looked on FB, through my phone, Kaylen thought...hmm! NO ONE.
I could have taken anyone, but I wanted to take someone new and fun, right?
Wednesday night comes along and I decided it had to be done. I had to ask someone (the concert was on Friday). Well my roomie Kelsey thought of a guy who I was suppose to get set up with 3 months ago and thought I should ask him. Seriously? We met once, pretty much complete strangers :/ I did know that he was a great guy and well....why not?
So, I asked him on a date :) lol
First real official time asking a boy on a date...oh yay!
I will still leave that up to the boys as much as possible though ;)
The conclusion to this story is traffic was INSANE to SLC. We literally sprinted to the doors and we were to late, they wouldn't let us in. I was the saddest little girl there :( So, off we went with our heads held high and watched it in the Tabernacle. To make it even better, we ran into our home town girl Kaitlyn Sprouse in there and they missed it too lol :) And how can you go wrong with Mo-tab Christmas music, David Archuleta, Temple lights, running into Vernal peeps around every corner and Settebello pizza. All around we had a wonderful time!

I come home and I get to see my girls Celest and Rachie.
I sure do Love them!

HELP!
This picture is cute right?
Well while I let them watch the Grinch on my lap top they tapped on some buttons
and now my computer talks to me :/
I have a little black box
that types out EVERYTHING that I do on my mac and then repeats it back to me.
If anyone knows how to fix this PLEASE let me know!!!

Merry Christmas,
Lakyn Marie

This weekend a couple of our friends went to this lounge called -Spark- for Ms. Alex's birthday. It's more of like a mormon lounge ha! They serve all non-alcholic drinks and it's actually pretty fun!

We were pretty impressed by our Shirley Temples

The Christmas Child
"There is magic in Christmas. Hearts are open to a new measure of kindness. Love speaks with increased power. Tensions are eased...

"Of all things of heaven and earth of which we bear testimony, none is so important as our witness that Jesus, the Christmas child, condescended to come to earth from the realms of His Eternal Father, here to work among men as healer and teacher, our Great Exemplar. And further, and most important, He suffered on Calvary's cross as an atoning sacrifice for all mankind.

"At this time of Christmas, this season when gifts are given, let us now forget that God gave His Son, and His Son gave His life, that each of us might have the gift of eternal life"

Gordon B. Hinckley

Happy Holidays!!!

Update

This year I drew out for two great tags, one in Wyoming and one in Colorado. We had quiet the time. This is definitely something I love to do with my Dad. Usually I have no Idea what I get put in for until the day my Dad calls to break the news and usually (always) he is more excited than I am hah! I do love hunting and enjoy everything that goes along (besides the gutting :/).

Wyoming Deer
Colorado Deer

I thought I would throw this in here. :)
I guess they wanted to teach me young!!!

On Saturday My mom and I went to the Christmas Gift Show in Sandy, Ut. This was the best thing I found (for me). They are sticker adhesive nails. They are SO cute I can't even get over it!!! They stay on your toes for like a month..or two :D and nails about 2 weeks. Check it out at Jamberry!

I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving.

The Oak Tree

Today we went to a CES Fireside where Elder Ballard spoke. He gave this GREAT poem that I thought I would share with you all :)

The Oak Tree

by Johnny Ray Ryder Jr.

A mighty wind blew night and day.

It stole the Oak Tree's leaves away.

Then snapped its boughs

and pulled its bark

until the Oak was tired and stark.

But still the Oak Tree held its ground

while other trees fell all around.

The weary wind gave up and spoke,

"How can you still be standing Oak?"

The Oak Tree said, I know that you

can break each branch of mine in two,

carry every leaf away,

shake my limbs and make me sway.

But I have roots stretched in the earth,

growing stronger since my birth.

You'll never touch them, for you see

they are the deepest part of me.

Until today, I wasn't sure

of just how much I could endure.

But now I've found with thanks to you,

I'm stronger than I ever knew.

Love me-

Blowing my diet...AGAIN!

Seriously! Why do I even try to diet???
Every year when holiday season comes around, its SHOT!
But in a sense it is all worth it :D

Celest and her sister Brittney invited me over to make CARMEL APPLES!!!
And I think for first timers, we didn't do to shabby :)

They were yummy!

Happy Halloween!!!

Conference Weekend

Oh how I love October!
1. Conference
2. The Fall Leaves
3. The cool weather ( besides this year, 86 degrees???)
4. Hunting season with my family
5. Get the winter clothes out :)
For conference this October my roommates and I decided to go to the conference center for the A.M. & P.M session. We went going without any tickets...YIKES. I was kinda freaking out I wont lie. Kaylen assured me everything would be ok and that we would have NO trouble getting in. Well she was right of course and we got plaza level tickets for both :D How I love that girl.
We then ventured off to Malad, IDAHO.
Kaylens family went there to spend conference with her grandma, so we decided to tag along. I ABSOLUTELY love small farm towns like that. When we arrived Kaylens Mom and Aunt were doing a lil photo shoot for her sisters and cousins at their grandpas feed lot. Naturally we had to get one too! What do you think, could I be a cowgirl??? hehe!
'

We got to meet up with our girls Kayla and Heather. It was great to see them!

Yee Haw!

"Romantic" Night with my girls!

As a lot of you know my roommate Kelsie's dad passed away last weekend. It of course has been a very big struggle for her :(
She came home late Thursday night, but Kaylen and I didn't get to see her until Friday. When we talked to her, we both could tell she was not doing the best. I decided she needed something to take her mind off of the world, boyfriend, job, school, etc...
So I told them NOT to make any plans, we were doing something. I took them to SUNDANCE! There are only certain times of the year they have the full moon night lift experience.
It was great, besides the fact that we were the only three girls on a lift without boys haha! It is a more of a romantic date, but we had fun anyway! Kelsey was so excited and I encourage anyone who hasn't done that before to DO IT! It truly was amazing. I hope Kelsie that she knows how many people care and love her and continue to keep looking forward with faith!

Oh the JOYS of cooking!

So I consider myself a pretty good cook, but for some reason, this certain day was not in my favor :/
I decided to come home and eat lunch with my roommate Kelsey before she flew back to Texas, so we got to chatting (like most girls do, in my defense) and this is what happened.......

This same night Kaylen says, Lakyn do you just want to get the pizza roll ready when you get home, so we can hurry and eat and then leave (we had plans at 7, she got off work at 6). Of course the good roommate I am, I said Yes! It came out beautiful and looked sooo good! So what does Lakyn do?? Put it back in the oven to keep warm. I went back into my room to check something online and all the sudden I smelt smoke!!! OH NO.....I ran into the Kitchen and the smoke alarms started blaring in our apt, they were SO loud (all they really did was just make me panic more...geesh!) As soon as they went off Kaylen walked through the door to see me trying to rip the smoke alarm off the wall! Oh it was horrible :( My cooking confidence was SHOT!
So, the great friend Kaylen is she turned our burnt Lincoln long into a good situation. So, we just tipped it on over and ate the inside. It was DELISH!
To redeem myself, Kaylen and I made peach pies! :D
They were yummy!
Oh the joys of cooking ;D

Flashback

Last night I came back to Vernal for a friends wedding and when I left, I saw the U on the hill lit up in Red! A lot of the memories from Homecoming way back when, all came flooding back. White washing the U, having paint in my hair for a least a good month, freezing weather in Sept :( wanting to do a lot of push ups to get warmed up, having the best student body, and our football team loosing :/ I will have to say, I will always have my Ute Pride!

Check it out :)

So, I have been on this spree with making these little rosette flowers out of fabric. I love it. I have made headbands galore and anything I can think of to embellish them with ;)
I was really in the need of a new scripture bag. I just had to many things, not enough space!
I bought this bad for $3 bucks at Wally World (killer deal right) and then just simply made some flowers to embellish it with.
Love it....Hate it, let me know what you think!

P.S. Sorry for the HORRIBLE pics.

Blank Sheet of Paper

Do you ever just have one of those days?
Well I HATE them....
Almost to the point where I make it worse, because I hate it so bad.

Anyway...

I am about to start a new journey in my life.
I feel like my life, here soon will be a "Blank Sheet of Paper".
New City
New Job
New Apt.
New Friends
New Me
Today I've been sick about trying to find somewhere to live. I have had it so good for the last two years living at home (yes, its time again to move from Vernal Utah). I don't want to have all those worries again. Do I want to live in Student housing or don't I, What if I get crazy roommates, what if, what if, what if? UGG! The only thing I know right now is that I knew I needed to come home for those two years, and now I know its time for me to go. It was really hard breaking it to my family when my mom sat there and cried, my niece and nephew can't understand why i'm leaving and said, "its never going to be the same, do you not like us anymore" :'(...I know right throw my heart on a rock and crush it! But I have seen the changes in my life that would not happened if I were not here.
The Lord has never led me somewhere where he isn't standing next to my side and through all of this I have seen his tender mercies and hand through out this whole decision. I have to be reminded that Faith and Fear cannot coexist, so I have to go forward with faith without question and know that Provo, Ut is where I need to be. I'm getting excited for my new journey and to fill in EVERY single line of that blank sheet of paper (front and back ;)).

GOOD NEWS
I found a job :)
At Thompson Orthodontics. I am feel so blessed to be able to find such a GREAT office to work at. Coming from Wright Ortho. they have very high expectations to live up to, but I think they can live up to par.
#1. Working at Thompson Orthodontics :)

Now the real question is....Do I become a BYU fan?????

I want to share this story with you all, I like to think of this in time like these.

God’s Embroidery
When I was a little boy, my mother used to embroider a great deal. I would sit at her feet and look up from the floor and ask what she was doing. She informed me that she was embroidering. I told her that it looked like a mess from where I was. As from the underside I watched her work within the boundaries of the little round hoop that she held in her hand, I complained to her that it sure looked messy from where I sat. She would smile at me, look down and gently say,
“My son, you go about your playing for a while, and when I am finished with my embroidering, I will put you on my knee and let you see it from my side.”
I would wonder why she was using some dark threads along with the bright ones and why they seemed so jumbled from my view. A few minutes would pass and then I would hear Mother’s voice say,
“Son, come and sit on my knee.” This I did only to be surprised and thrilled to see a beautiful flower or a sunset. I could not believe it, because from underneath it looked so messy. Then Mother would say to me,
“My son, from underneath it did look messy and jumbled, but you did not realize that there was a pre-drawn plan on the top. It was a design. I was only following it. Now look at it from my side and you will see what I was doing.”
Many times through the years I have looked up to my Heavenly Father and said, “Father, what are You doing?” He has answered, “I am embroidering your life.” I say, “But it looks like a mess to me. It seems so jumbled. The threads seem so dark. Why can’t they all be bright?” The Father seems to tell me, “My child, you go about your business of doing My business and one day I will bring you to Heaven and put you on My knee and you will see the plan from My side.”

Love,
Me

It's a lot cuter in person promise!
And once again she is closing her eyes ;)
